I commented before about how FX's upcoming vampire miniseries "The Strain" looks like it's going to be really scary. The preview trailer that FX released is certainly consistent with that prediction:
Having gotten rid of cable, though, I guess I'll have to wait for this to stream on Amazon Prime.

FX's summer vampire series "The Strain" is probably going to be VERY creepy
Just check out the poster for the upcoming FX summer series "The Strain":
Yuck!! Worms coming out of a woman's eye?!? I read the trilogy of novels by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Logan ("The Strain," "The Fall," and "The Night Eternal") a year or so ago, and I'll just say that this is definitely not a "True Blood" kind of vampire story. It's more like hell unleashed on Earth. "The Strain" (the novel, that is) was particularly effective in the beginning, which has a long set-piece set aboard an airplane that doesn't respond to the control tower yet lands safely. The perceptive reader can already get a sense of what's going on, but of course the characters don't, which is a variation of Alfred Hitchcock's theory of generating suspense. It's moody, incredibly tense, and quite disturbing.
My guess is that this is going to be a really scary summer series. The explanation of the origin of vampirism was kind of surprising, and not necessarily well-integrated, but I thought the trilogy ended satisfyingly. (Hopefully, FX won't pull an "Under the Dome" and turn what would be a great limited series into an ongoing one.)
